    Default iPhone Frozen

I have an iPhone 3G here. It is just frozen on the Lock screen. When I hold down the power button, it shows me the slide to turn off screen but its not sensing my touch...I am not able to slide to power off...

I held down the Home + Power button for 30 secs and still nothing happened. It is just stuck one that one screen.

Hope this new 3G was cheap.. try letting it run the battery down to the point where it shuts off and then restarting.

Is there some kind of app that will force the phone to go into DFU or recovery mode? I remember there a a script someone created which forces into DFU mode, but I can't find it, and I am not sure if it work in my case since PC wont' even recognize the iPhone?????

Does the iPhone charge when connected to the computer?

Do the power/sleep and home buttons function properly?

Most of the tools for forcing an iPhone into DFU or recovery mode only work with the 2G. There is a general software solution that involves deliberately corrupting the LLB by uploading a specifically formatted IPSW via iTunes.
None of these work for you unless you can get the computer to recognise the iPhone

Lcd looks fine... No cracks at all... The person I bought this iPhone from said it work perfectly fine before he sold it to me...Even when I bought it from him touch worked fine, I checked in front of him... When I got home the battery was dead but after chargering I noticed that it didn't work anymore...

Although I can't look at the serial number...I think the box which I received the iPhone in still has a serial number. I am not sure if it corresponds to the same iPhone...But when I looked up that serial number on Apple's website, it said it couldn't find it.

The person told me the iphone is less than 1 year oldd...But if I call apple telling them my problem, how will they be able to assist me without the serial number? I know they do replacements if its still under Limited Warranty, but there is no way to check.

Okay so I managed to make the batteries run out. Then I connected it to my PC and let made it go in to recovery mode when it was turning back on.

Then using iTunes, I restored it and I noticed something unusual... Normally when I restore iPhones with iTunes, during the restoration process it shows me the Apple logo with the "progress bar". But this time it just show me the Apple logo and a little circle that kept going round and round throughout the restoration process.

Then when iTunes said it is going to restart, the iPhone restarted and got stuck on the Apple logo. It got stuck on Apple logo for a long time and I coudln't get it to restart again or go into recovery mode. Now, it is suck on a blank white screen.... I tried to get it out by holding the Power + Homescreen button, but still no luck.

What OS were you restoring? The older OS versions did not have a progress bar during restore.

Did you put it into DFU or into restore mode?

    Have you tried iRecovery now?
