Default iPhone in english but want FRENCH predictive

    Hi,

    Here is the point :

    iPhone settings

Firmware: 1.1.3 (break and using *SIM)
    Language: English
    Keyboard: French
    Region Format: French/Belgium

I want to be able to have predictive and dictionnary in french (which is my mother language !) when typing SMS. Right now it seems to use english so I never have the right word !
And for sure I want to continue to use my iPhone in English so I don't want to change the language to French ..

    Hope someone can help ...

    Thanks for all

    Cix

Cix, I assume that you've tried changing the Region Format to French/France to see if that makes a difference?

I've the same settings as you with the exception of the Region Format which is set to France and it works just fine.

Another idea, go into the SMS.app and ensure that the Globe (Int'l) keyboard is French and not the US keyboard and see if this makes a difference.

    add the following source:
    http://rep.frenchiphone.com

There are all kinds of localisation tools there, including a complete French language kit for the iPhone. When you install the French-language keyboard (AZERTY) and use it, the predictive text will default to French.

Sorry if this is not more precise, but I did this mod ages ago and have been using it for quite a while. It works perfectly.

I actually haven't change my "region" from "Belgium" to "France". I'll be surprise that"s the solution !
As in Belgium we use "Flemmish, German or French" and not "English" !

    But I'll make a try !

    Thanks

    I'll try that also.
I effectivly use "Azerty" keyboard with my 1.1.3 iPhone (break and using *SIM).

Now let sayt that if it's working right now (and so I'm wrong) the predictive/dictionnary is very very very BAD

So I'll take a look at the tools.

I had hope that someone told me "Ho yes. I know the problem ... here is the solution"

    Thanks

    What do you mean ?

I test to put int'l to "French France" but nothing changed !
If I type (sms) "Cec" (for Ceci), he propose me "C'ex" !!!

    Any other idea ?

    Thanks
