iphone contact problem
Im using a 2g iphone and have used isim to copy all my contacts to my phone.
However now when im in contacts they are not actually in the a-z categories. They seem to be in the 123 category. And when i get phone calls it does not show the contacts name. Only the mobile number and this is bugging as im getting calls and i never know who they are from before i answer! The only way to seem to get the contacts in properly is to edit each one indivdually by changing the mob numbers, (ie changing the 0 at the start to +44 and vice versa.)
Wondered if anyone else has had this problem and if there is any way around it as i refuse to edit all my numbers just to get them in the a-z.
thanks

if ur on 2.x try installing callerID Fix collection from the ispazio source in cydia as it supports 72 countries. If ur using a 1.x version search for a similar application under the localization tab in installer, I think it was called "call database" or something like that. This solution will fix ur caller ID problem (i.e ur contacts name will pop up when he/she call and not the number) and not the order of contacts.

try simport and if that doesnt work i recommmend to upgrade to 2.1, as it has a built in option to import the sim contacts and then install caller id fix collection from cydia to fix ur caller id. There are many guides in this forum on how to upgrade/unlock/jailbreak/activate 2.1
Hope this helped
Feel free to contact on anything u have doubt in.

I may try simport instead. Is that just in installer? Though would i not need to delte all my contacts first as id get duplicates of them? If so is there a way of doing that together instead of one by one?
Also planning to move to 2.1 but not just yet, wanna do it when ive got lots of free time unless i fxxx up lol

u can find simport in installer and I think I saw an app in installer that allows u to delete all contacts in one tap, anyway if ur upgrading to 2.1 then y bother about this issue? I mean most probably ur going to lose all ur contacts during the upgrade. And upgrade as soon as possible. Trust me 2.1 is WAY better than 1.1.4.

Hi I also have a very similar problem.
I bought a iphone 3g and its jailbroken and running on fw 2.1
I imported all my contacts using isync. All the contact appear correctly. But have problem with names appearing when calling and texting.
If a number is stored as 078......... and when that person rings the iphone displays the name correctly. However if that person sends me a text on the iphone then the name will not appear. As a text the number will then appear as +4478......... The only way to get that name to appear is to save the +4478... number to the same contact as the 078 one. Then the contact will appear when I recive a sms. If i do not do that then the number will only appear.
I have tried installing callerIDfix from cydia but that did not solve anything and my regional settings are set to uk.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

u should manually edit the phone formats by accesing the filesystem(i.e using ssh or similar programs) but am not sure how to exactly search this forum and you will find an answer. I think i've seen such an issue and a solution to ur problem somewhere here not quit sure where.
Hope this helped
