I've got the older Bluetooth module, and it connects just fine with the iPhone for handsfree use. Doesn't let me play music through bluetooth though.

And the ipod cable works just fine. Although the iPhone prompts that the device wasn't made to work with the iPhone, and wants to know whether to go into airplane mode or not. It's not a big deal, just ignore it.

All the id3 data comes up fine on the head unit.

    oh, another thing....

Don't bother installing the Bluetooth module unless you are going to be using it with another phone as well.

Apparently the iPhone will work as a hands-free unit, using it's built in microphone when someone calls. I say apparently since no-one has called me when the iPhone is hooked up. I have a 4G ipod there pretty well all the time, I only swap when I need to charge the iPhone.

    Hi thesource

I have both modules on my Alpine car stereo system.

The iPod cable works fine as long as you put your iPhone in iPod mode before connecting.

The bluetooth 300BT works but, at least in my case, is not very reliable. I'm seriously considering installing a Parrot system

    Regards

    Default Fried iPhone

I got my alpine head unit 9887 installed with the ipod cable.

Plug in my iPhone, and the 9887 friend my iPhone. Now I can't restore and can't switch on. I think my iPhone board is gone....

    Think again before pluggin in...

    Thumbs up It works brilliant

I forgot of my Alpine head unit model number
but it's a touchglide model plus hooked up an alpine ipod interface.
When I got the iphone 3months ago, one day the phone was low battery.
I realised the iphone should be able to charge via the ipod interface.
Actually the head unit can browse all the songs from the song and have fully funcational control by the head unit.
when an incoming or out going calls, music will suspend.
Soon as you hang up the music back on.

Better to have the iphone pair with a bluetooth handfree while you using it as mp3 storage.
