Question Iphone/ATT prepaid plan charges for incoming calls?

    Hi Folks,

I have an iPhone pick your plan (prepaid) account from ATT and I'm getting charged for incoming calls. My other ATT acount is also a pick your plan account (costing exactly the same as the one in the iPhone) and I have free incoming calls with it.
Does anyone know if this is a mistake from ATT? If not, does any have a sugestion for me to get a prepaid plan that features free incoming calls?

I know this is a bit off topic, but I'd really apreciate the help. Moderator, if you think this is too off topic, feel free to erase it. I just ask to give me some time so I can read the answers (if any) before erasing it.

    Thanks.

I've never heard of any cell plan, prepaid or not, that doesnt charge for incoming calls (unless you have one of those in-network deals)

Incoming phone calls are free for all local subscribers in Europe and Asia, whether you're on contract or pre-paid.

Well, you don't really pay anything extra unless you do a hell of a lot of calling. For the monthly fee you pay the providers here in the US you get a ton of included minutes.

For example, my plan with T-Mobile cost me $39.99/month and an additional $5.99 for unlimited GPRS. I have 1000 included minutes, weekends free, and free in-network calling. So with all the calling and receiving calls I have never paid more than my fixed monthly cost.

There are pros and cons to both plan setup. It did take me a while though to get used to the plans here in the US. The European plans gives you more freedom.

Interesting. Back when I lived in Sweden in 1997 I had a GSM phone through a carrier named Comviq, and I am pretty sure they charged for calls both ways.

Possibly why Comviq doesnt exist anymore? In europe when roaming between countries you get stung for incoming calls and texts (though the EU is looking at roaming call costs) In your home country, I don't believe that any telco charges for incoming calls. I use 3 different country SIMs (Swiss, French & UK)

Comviq does still exist......they may be operating under their main company's name now though, which is Tele2.
