Obviously it hurts to miss a deal, but the whining on this thread is truly ridulous. You got precisely what you paid for. If you get a further discount, great, if not, you still were treated honestly. Am I sorry to have missed a deal? If course! Was I gypped? Of course not.

The people whining seem to have the mots childish and unrealist attidute. Here's a further shocker: in 6 months or so, a much better iPhone will be released, and it may get even cheaper. Oh, and there will be even better models after that. Surprised?

    Open letter from Steve Jobs:

    http://www.apple.com/hotnews/openiphoneletter/

    Conclusion:

Every iphone customers get 100$ credit in any apple store to buy apple stuff, and customers who purchased the iphone 14 days ago get 200$ refunded (like me yesterday!)

I truly hope that those of you who believe that we are whining, will stick to your guns and refuse the Steve Jobs' offer for compensation. Obviously, you folks are above such matters and did pay $499 or $599 for your phones. We would not want to take away from that price by accepting a $100 bride from Mr. Jobs. Now would we?

It is apparent that the whiners got Steve Jobs attention and he is trying to restore some good will.

    Angry

Errrm how is this going to work - presumably only for US customers? What about the dodgy Rest of the World that bought iPhones from American exporters?

It'd be rather galling if the guys who bought 20 iPhones on release and flogged them all on eBay to non-Americans could wander into their Apple store with their 20 receipts and claim $2000 worth of Apple kit

Or can I, with possession of my precioussssss and knowledge of the IMEI etc. buy some random shit from the US online Apple store? I think I know the answer to this one

As I said earlier, I can just about swallow the fact that I paid well over the odds to be an early adopter outside the USA, and I'm not expecting teh Steve to reimburse me for this. However if the guys who exported our iPhones for us can claim their $100 per phone with their original sales receipts, then I'll be pissed off. That's just not cricket.

I'm English - there appear to be a lot of Aussies here with exported iPhones - what do you guys think? Perhaps worth sending an 'open letter' to teh Steve saying that if they're willing to refund $100 to American early adopters, then he may as well send us non-Americans a free unlock NCK code in lieu of payment??
