Tried it with what?? Sn0wbreeze? Pwnagetool?? Which version??

You need Pwnagetool 4.1.2 or 4.1.3 to make a custom IPSW for iOS 4.2.1
For sn0wbreeze I think you need version 2.2.1 (but I am no expert on sn0wbreeze)

Hi, I just came upon this thread now and am encountering the same problem with error 1015 preventing me from restoring my iPhone 3GS. My phone can't do anything right now - there's only the screen telling me to plug into iTunes and restore.

I'm a COMPLETE newbie when it comes to computers/technology, so I'm having the hardest time trying to work it out. Was wondering if you could provide some help. Thank you!

    Olethros,

I like the fella above am also in the same boat, hope you don't get tired of all these requests...If any help you can provide to get my phone back to operational status my appreciation wouldn't be enough. I've followed this thread and have to admit I'm a little lost...You had asked for a report in an earlier reply. I have one that was done through Itunes that shows my Iphone isn't found. This all occurred during the latest update when it was disconnected prior to it finishing...

My Iphone is a 3gs bought from Bell, never attempted "jailbreaking" or isn't jailbroken...

I've been trying to find the firmware to try and restore / update online. I have found iPhone2,1_6.0_10A403_Restore tried restoring through Itunes and seems to start working but hangs forever with out any luck.

Thanks in advance for anything you can outline for me to remedy this...

Are you trying to restore to new iOS version ? , go to setting, general, about and check your modem firmware. I suspect you have the ipad baseband.
