Default iPhone 3G iOS 4.1 won't go into DFU mode

Obviously I have a 3g Iphone which I updated to iOS4.1. I'm am trying to jailbreak using redsn0w, but when I try to go into DFU, I hold the power and home buttons, but the Apple logo pops up after 2 seconds, then it just starts my phone up like normal. No black screen, no nothing.

I have tried it multiple times, and its still an no go. I don't know what else to do.

I have looked at multiple YouTube videos, read at least 12 different tutorials, and I still got nothing. My home and power buttons work just fine, so I know its not that.

I'm at a loss on what to do now.

Have you tried shutting it down first?

Remember that it needs to be connected to power (wall charger/computer) via USB to be able to get into DFU mode.

Yea, I have already tried shutting it down. I tried to even hard reset multiple times, and it still didn't do it. I tried so many methods. I finally got fed up and took myself to the Apple Store. The employee couldn't do a hard reset. So thankfully it wasn't me being dumb, and it was actually my phone. I made an appointment to see if I need to get a new phone or if they can fix it.

Press and hold the POWER & HOME buttons for exactly 10 seconds. Then release the POWER button but carry on holding the HOME button until iTunes pops up with an error message saying "iTunes has detected a device in Recovery mode". Your iPhone screen should be black. If it isn't then try the above process again.

Also if that doesn't work try holding the POWER & HOME buttons for just 7 seconds. This method works on the iPhone 3GS. I know because I repeatedly tried to get my iPhone 3GS into DFU mode and it just wouldn't do it. After careful research I found a solution. Try for 7 seconds instead of 10.

    I hope that helps.

It's amazing how you can determine that you have the exact same problem based on so little information.

Especially when the previous posters did not mention that they recieved error 1602 at all. Please excuse my sarcasm but I really doubt you can make the claim that you have the exact same identical problem based on so little information.

For your information - 1602 indicates that the problem is most likely with your computer, restart it, perform USB troubleshooting, check that security software is not interfering iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues, try a different computer or simply reinstall the OS
