Default [iPhone 2G] USB and microphone issues.[Mystery]

    Basic info:

    iPhone 2G on 2.0.1
    BL 4.6
    BB 04.05.04_G
    Unlocked with Quickpwn.
I own another iPhone that is working perfectly on the same components and configuration (except BL 3.6).
The problem therefore seems to be with iPhone, not with the charger, cables, Windows or itunes.

    Battery issues:

iPhone is not charging with supplied iPhone charger. It only charges with an old iPod adapter (The big firewire ones that shipped with the 5G iPod)
iPhone is not recognized by Windows Vista. It doesn't appear as a USB device and does not appear to charge from USB.

    Microphone issues:

It is simply not working. Whenever I receive a call, I can quite clearly hear but my correspondent only hears some sort of garbled static. Using loudspeaker doesn't help.

Notes: iPhone's "About" says there are 0 bytes of space left. (unlikely to be true)

I DO have SSH installed in case it needed for a fix.
I am stuck here. I cannot restore or try to update etc...

    So geniuses, what's your diagnostic?
My sister is as much of an iPhone junkie as I am. So don't be afraid to get technical.

    Thank you in advance.

    UPDATE:
The microphone issues appeared a day after the USB issues.
Are they related or not? Mystery...

Did you drop it? got it wet? or anything that could in a physical manner damage the phone?
have you tried to put it in DFU mode to see if your computer recognizes it this way?????
    Have you tried other computer????
Are the usb ports of your computer working?? giving enough current to power up and recognize the iphone?? (usb 2.0 is required)

It was dropped a couple times a long time before we noticed the defects. The port doesn't seem to be damaged in any way and water damage is unlikely.

I didn't try DFU because if I put it in DFU mode there will be no coming back without a restore. Is there any other other way to come out of DFU?

The USB ports are working because I have been using another iPhone on the same computer with the same cables. I do have USB 2.0 and they do power the other iPhone correctly.
As for trying another computer, I will do that as soon as possible (a couple hours)

Bad news. The laptop did not recognise the iPhone, even in DFU mode.
Do you have any other options?

Have you tried synching it using the dock and not only the cable?

    Awesome tip!
Windows not sees it but gives me the "USB Device Not Recognised" message.
iTunes still doesn't see it though...
    Thanks guys!
What would be the next logical step?

Well I figured that I should try DFU with the dock.
Nothing new. I do get the "USB disconnected" sound and then I can hear it reconnect to windows. But I'm still getting the "USB Device Not Recognised" popup and itunes doesn't open.
I tried opening itunes manually but it still didn't see my precious.
    Should I try restore mode?

I see. What hardare parts are most likely to be damaged?
The surprising part is that it charges normally with a previous generation iPod charger.
Does that indicate anything to you?
