Alright...

So this is sort of a stupid question.. but im just going to ask it anyway...

today, the iPhone 3G was launched in India, and when I plugged in my iPhone 2G, itunes told me theres a "Carrier Settings" update available for my phone.

So, my question is, will my iPhone 2G work without unlocking? ie. with the Original firmware.

Im on 2.0.1, going to upgrade to 2.0.2 when winpwn 2.5 comes out.

I thought id try 2.0.2 Official, and see if it works..

Whada you guys think?

Hi

The "carrier setting update" message is normal when you start running on 2.0 upwards firmware.

Unless you have a iphone official contact the update will fail

The way to fix this from popping up all the time is to create your own carrier.bundle (link Below) for the Sim provider you use.

It has nothing to do with unlocking the phone

My carrier is supported, vodafone in, I present in the 2.0.1 firmware..

I edited it, so that I could change the edge settings.

Maybe that's why I'm getting the message?

If you go from 1.1.4 to 2.0.1 or 2.0.2 and you will need to unlock again with bootneuter

If you go from 2.0.1 pwned to 2.0.2 and you will just need activate / jailbreak with the QuickpwnGUI tool

Not yet, im waiting for WinPwn 2.5 with 2.0.2 support to release before trying anything.

I did it using quickpwn thought Airtel dint require unlocking but unfortunately I think it does, everything works fine, but not getting any carrier, I tried vodafone too, guess will have to wait till 2.5, i read somewhere that you cant go back from 2.02 to 2.01
