iPhone 2G - Repair Needed
Came across the site after researching the problem I'm having and it looks very welcoming good to be here..
In a nutshell, I was passed on a iPhone 2nd Gen (First model, silver backing, I'm sure you'll know the one) for nothing, simply because it seemed there was no hope of it ever working after bricking it by jailbreaking attempts it seems.. But I'm prepared to make it..
At first I was given the Error code 23 when trying to restore it (DFU mode also) with any firmware. Then for some reason, after simply rebooting it by holding down sleep and home button it came up with the usb cable, the itunes logo, and a message in front stating ' Repair Needed: Iphone cannot make or receive calls ' followed by a message from iTunes telling me to insert a sim card, which there is one.
Again I followed a lot of tutorials over the net of downgrading, upgrading, restoring etc. etc. etc., in downgrading attempts iTunes just spits up the error code: 1601..
Although I have just noticed that while the screen is sitting on the above error (Repair needed), the iPhone can be detected by QuickPwn 22-1, and gives me the following message "The correct IPSW will have a name beggining with iPhone 1,1_2.0". I tracked down this firmware online but when I try to load it into QuickPwn it comes back again saying "Firmware error string"
I understand the errors are going around and around in circles but does anyone know of any tutorials that may lead me in the right direction?? or if thats not an option can someone tell me if there is actually any hope whatsoever in this iPhone
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Error 23 is almost always hardware related.

Without more information it is hard to tell if it is a hardware only problem or not, but almost all the cases that have come up with errror 23 are hardware.
