    Default Iphone 1 permanent unlock?

    Hi

I bought a IPhone 1 (the very first model) in Germany a while ago. It is not factory unlocked. Is there a way to permanent unlock it? Normally providers unlock phones after 2 years for free and my phone for sure is older than 2 years. But I have no idea where this phone comes from, it might as well come from overseas...

    thx
    Peter

you may want to follow this link:

iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.1.3 Using RedSn0w (Windows)

this will get you unlock forever since the last FW for the first gen iphone is 3.1.3 meaning no matter how many times you restore your baseband will not be updates and this unlock was based on actual BL and Baseband flashing so you can restore and it will remain unlocked.

Great reply: Let me just add this... even though your phone will be unlocked, and always get a signal - it will NOT activate in itunes after a factory restore without an official carrier sim. So as an example in the USA: if you unlocked an AT&T iPhone 2G (the first - original iphone), and insert a T-Mobile sim, and do a factory legit restore in itunes - when its finished, you'll see carrier signal and T-mobile in the upper left corner, but you'll be stuck in the waiting for activation (slide for emergency) screen, unless you either hacktivate or have an official sim (like AT&T in the USA for example).

Now, if your asking how to "factory unlock" so any sim would also activate the phone in itunes - That I don't know...........

SAM plus bootneuter will give a faux "factory-activation" if your 2G phone was originally properly activated with the carrier it was locked to. If like me you have an AT&T 2G iPhone that was never activated with AT&T - then your only choice is hacktivation.
