This is my first post here, hope to get a bit of your knowledge...
I am spanish and got an iphone in new york last week.

When I came to spain everything worked ok (version 1.0.0). But from the moment i updated to version 1.0.2, the wifi wep network is not working anymore. The iphone does not connect never to my network (the one that some days before was working with).

I have tryed EVERYTHING, putting hex and $, etc etc. It seems tht the new firmware has removed the option of "WEP hex/ASCII key". Now you only have the option of "WEP Password" which in theory should be enough and automatically detects if HEX or ascii.

Anywaym it does not work. But if i get the wep emcryption off, then it connects.

So I am trying to get back to 1.0.0. And the only way that it may work us by using the iPHUC.
But i have another problem and it is that since the 1.0.2, my iphone do not enter in Recovery mode. No way.

Any idea of any kind to solve any of the problems!!!

yes, the new FW remove that option but u can still enter the WEP/WPA password as well and the iPhone will recognize it. So dont worry about that

Seems like they hide some options that could be dangerous for people that dont know too much about networks and those stuff. They want to make a phone easy to work with it.

recovery mode is still possible by pressing HOLD+POWER button about 25 secs. Sometimes by pressing HOLD a lot of times and plugging the charger, iPhone shuts to charging mode

But, again. Since the menu has dissapeared my wifi wep has stopped running and working.

I have seen more people by searchin in google that has the same or similar problem. I guess apple is doing omething wrong

Im from Spain too, and i have the same problem, with a Telefonica Xavi router. The password is ASCII and there's not an option for that on the iphone, i tried all there were (wep, wpa, wpa2 etc..).
