Default Interesting convo with ATT business rep

I called to cancel my iphone account and was told by the lady that if I wanted to re-activate the account, I would need to purchase a new sim card to do so. Now, I have never had to purchase a new card ever, and I asked her about it. She told me that with the iPhone, when it deactivates it takes the sim card with it. Does this make any sense to anybody?
    Thanks!

    Either:

    1. The SIM's ICCID is added to a blocklist for the iphone (or taken off a 'iphone class of service' whitelist)
    2. The iphone writes/changes a value onto the SIM card that makes the SIM card seem no longer "iphone-capable"
    3. Both the above

Do you have an old phone with ATT (cingular)?
If so ask them if you can re-activate your old SIM card in your old phone.
Im sure that one was just taken off line when you activated the iPhone.

Also I still find it strange that they took away my business discount with the activation of the iPhone but my account is still flagged so I get a business rep when I call?

After talking with them one person admitted that the business reps were not trained on supporting the iPhones but yet I always have to talk with them, with out the discount.

Now dont you think I should talk to a normal rep that is trained to support the phone if I know longer get the discount???????

ATT, if your reading this then give me my discount or make sure my call are routed to someone who is trained to support this phone. Im tired of dealing with people that dont know what they are talking about.

At least apple still has great support.

SIM cards can't be reused on AT&T. Once a SIM has been activated, for *any* number, it can't be reused if later deactivated. So if you lose your SIM, get a new one, then find the first one later, you can't reuse the old SIM.
