Interchange SIMs in SIMFree iPhone?
Thinking about getting iPhone but have a few questions. I spend my time split about 50 / 50 between US and UK so with a SIM Free phone is it possible to switch SIMs and use local provider each end?
Who are people using for best deals assuming this will work? I am more concerned about data charges than phone am not a heavy call user.
Anyone know if you get non-iPhone account tariff with AT&T / O2 whether visual voicemail will work?
May well use standard O2 deal in the UK but their roaming charges are way too high if I can use local provider when in the US.
Thanks for any input...
An unlocked iPhone will work with any SIM card from any GSM provider.
There aren't too many options in the US. AT&T and T-mobile are the two nationwide giants, while most other GSM providers are smaller regional carriers. SunCom, my carrier, is an example of one of those smaller carriers, but they were recently bought by T-mobile. I pay US$40 a month for unlimited calling/SMS/data within my regional calling area, but I'm on a grandfathered family plan that's no longer offered. If you move around a lot within the US, one of the two national carriers will likely serve you best for nationwide coverage. If you stay in a particular region, a regional or local plan from a smaller carrier might be less expensive.
Visual Voicemail will only work with a valid iPhone plan.
