So my friend just got a new iPhone (1.1.1) pre-unlocked from Pacfic Mall (Toronto) and he cant seem to launch Installer.app. Anytime he does, it launches the initial screen (albeit with nothing but white) and then bounces him back to the springboard. Im not sure wqhat to advise him to do because the dudes @ Pacific wont take it back (blame it on 3rd party etc etc etc...)

Can he just restore 1.1.1fw and then jailbreak etc again?

I would suggest trying to remove Installer.app then re-adding it using iNdependence. If that doesn't work, do the restore.

IMHO iNdependence is the easiest to use amongst all the iPhone modding software out there. Its Help menu is particularly well-written and novice friendly.
