Default Installer.app 3 causes wifi problem?

My iphone will not display an IP address even though I can see it connected to my router with a correct IP address. No IP shows up in the iphone. Or rather the "default" IP of 169.254.8.256 that the OS enters when there is no IP. I can't ping the iphone IP that the router says it is giving the phone. I have tried resetting the network several times via the reset button on the phone OS.

The last time it was working was before and just after I installed installer.app 3. After I shut down the phone just after installing installer.app 3, I get this odd wifi problem. It has not worked since a shut down after installing installer.app. I don't see how it is related but it is the only thing that is different since it was working.

I'm not able to ping the IP the router believes it is giving to the iphone either. This problem happens on other routers as well, so it is not just my router. So the router is communicating with the phone in that it thinks it is assigning an IP but the phone is not confirming by showing that it has the assigned IP.

I'm out of ideas aside from a full restore and starting all over again, which I'm not too keen on doing since there is no certainty that the wifi problem will be solved by doing so. But I guess I can if need be.

    - Can you use internet on the phone?

    - Can you ping/ssh into the iphone?

    - If so, what is the result of ifconfig -a ?

    - Did you reboot your phone?

    - Did you try turning off the wifi then turning it on back again?

    - Are you sure you set the network setting to DHCP on the iphone?

    -No

    -Nadda

-Yep as well as reset network settings

-Yep, as well as airplane mode, etc.

-I know of no other way to ensure DHCP is engaged other than to click on the DHCP tab in the WIFI settings.

This is not installer.app causing the issue.

    It's 1.1.1. It sucks!
BAD wifi problems, search the Apple forums and you shall see.
I regret moving to 1.1.1, 1.02 had an excellent baseband. Wifi and EDGE worked perfectly. Apple totally screwed it on 1.1.1
