did you perform the Activation Bypass? the iPhone is probably looking for the original sim that the phone was paired with.

you can use iAsign to generate the activation file or download the 'lockdownd' patch from the YouTube bypass.

    thanks!

Will the YouTube patched lockdownd keep it activated all the time, so i can just pop in any sim and have it work? Or would i still need to generate activation for each sim?

Luckly the SSH/SFTP server was still running in the background.

Managed to access the iphone via wifi and upload the old lockdown file.

The phone has now booted back correctly with the original lockdown file.

The patch filed screwed up the phone after the software unlock.

Still can not re-activate the new sim card though...

as long as there are no iPhone updates to 'lockdownd'. the patched file will keep your iPhone activated and will NOT require re-activation whenever a new sim is inserted.

if you plan on using disposable sims and/or traveling... this is your best approach. i've validated this as i've tested a hardware unlocked iPhone with a tmobile and at&t sims. no re-activation was required when switching between sim chips.

copy the patched 'lockdownd' file to '/usr/libexec/' and you are set... you will need to do this step after the 'jailbreak' step.

    thanks!

i used the youtube bypass and it replaced the previous 'lockdownd' file and disabled the activation for new sims.

if this doesn't work, did you attempt the other approach using 'iPhoneInterface.exe' to upload the 'iPhoneActivation.pem' file to '/System/Library/Lockdown/' and generating an activation file via iAsign?

this approach works, but will require new activation files to be generated for each new sim card that will be used in the iPhone. the 'lockdownd' patch will remove this and allowing any active sim to be used in the iPhone.

    thanks!

Why would the lockdown patch make my phone boot slowly and sit at the front slide to unlock screen. With slide to unlock not working.

i'm assuming you are at v1.02 firmware? perhaps the file is corrupted and/or corrupted during the transfer?

i used the youtube bypass' batch file on a pc and the iPhone is functioning correctly.

where did you d/l your 'lockdownd' patch file?

    thanks!
