I was playing with the 1.1.1 dmg's when i tried to decrypt them using WINACE (i know it may sound silly). The program asked me for the password and the first thing that came in my mind was "dottie" so Win Ace attempted to decrypt it but it showed me an error telling me " It was not encrypted with WinAce".

The very strange thing is that it told me it wasn't encrypted with WinAce but didn't say anything about wrong password.

So if there is anyone out there with the proper decryptor should try this password.

I believe what you have found out about the 1.1.1 image is that it was not encrypted with WinACE (not even sure what that is).

To test your theory, why don't you try a different password and see what error you get back? If it still says "not encrypted with WinACE" then you know it has nothing to do with the password.

Fwiw, most programs put a little header in front of their files, so they can know if it's the right file (sometimes this is known as a magic number). My guess is that before it even tried to decrypt your file, it checked the header, and found it to be invalid.

But I'd love to hear otherwise... try that test I suggested...

Damn you were right . But still when i try to open it as a normal archive with win ace i see that it's analyzing and analyzing instead of giving error message or fail. I wonder what is happening...
