    i called the 1800 and all they told me is...

    if you buy from a store you have to call the store you bought it from
    if you buy online then the 1800 can help you
    apparently their system don't talk to each other so they can't see your record

    and the apple store won't give me a refund over the phone and that i have to come in or someone to come in the store with the original or copy of the receipt

    however other ppl have better luck.. i guess depends on the manager if they will allow or not

    I ordered 2 last Friday on Apple website (used my US Friend address).
    After I gave a rep the web order number, He did the credit back very quick before I could ask him: Could I use the credit to buy another iphone (2 x $200). He said the money already wired back to the credit card.
    By the way, I had waited almost 90 mins on the phone before I could talk to the rep.

    I have scanned my receipt and emailed them about the refund, lets see if they can refund it...!!

    They wont refund you if you email or call unless you ordered online or using the 1800myapple number.
    if you ordered in person you have to actually go down in person and do it. I did it today for a lot of iphones that I had purchased (since I used to sell these).

    Why hasnt my REP increased .. this is a good thread!!

    there is an email on the top of ur receipt....it's the email to the particular store u got it from!!

    I just tried mailing Apple again: same thing: come to the store, we'll refund. Replied that I wont be in NYC in the following year(s) as I was there as a tourist.... Still awaiting an answer...

    But!
    I just called VISA and exlained the story to them. About Apple having the policy, Apple replying by mail that they'll refund if I come to the store, cause they "need to see the VISA card". The VISA rep said: that's BS, they dont need a card to refund, just put this story in a document, including emails and refund policy... fax it to us and we'll get your money back...
    So I'll give Apple til tomorrow to refund and then 'll let VISA handle it....
