Default Idea to have new firmware's application running on hacked Iphone

Would it be possible that after 1.1.1 gets released, someone with an ATT phone download the new firmware (the .ipsw file), and we open it and change only the baseband file (or any file that would relock the phone), with the old correspondent files.

Then we would have a new firmware file 1.1.1_hacked, that would include all the new features, and keep the phones unlocked.

Would it be possible to load that into the phone by replacing the 1.1.1 .ipsw file with the new hacked package, and Itunes load it into the phone???

If that was possible it would be great!!!

    Just brainstorming...

I believe the firmware is encrypted and we do not know the encryption key.

The key for 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 was retrievable due to a bug in recovery mode if i recall correctly but that might not be the case with 1.1.1 (actually i think that's the reason the jailbreaking process for ipod touch is going so slow as well).

I believe it'll do some kind of CRC check, so it'll download it again and overwrite it since CRC won't match and itunes will believe that the file is corrupt (in fact it will be).

Have a look over there http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki/ind...Update_Service

Note that since I guess they're reading the Wiki they'll probably update Stage 2 (libupdate_brain) for 1.1 but Stage 1 (decrypting libupdate_brain) should still apply.

No need to panic or speculate over anything or even perform reverse engineering hypothetically.

The new firmware will be available by the end of this week and you know within 15 minutes whether or not it has any impact on the unlock. At which point, you'll be advised by the community what you need to do and what you shouldn't do.

Thus, the moral of the story is ... don't worry. There are others out there that won't let you down and will ensure that your iPhone will continue to function. I look forward to the new firmware for reasons beyound the scope of this post and will load it the moment that it's available.
