There were a few hiccups in my attempt to create custom ringtones. Most notably the need to manually create the Ringtone folder had me thinking for a while...

I've posted a tutorial for mac users using iTunes 7.5 and 1.1.2 iPhones. I might do one for windows users haven't decided yet though. (pretty much the same exact thing).

im guessing you have to be on 1.1.2 for this to work cause i just tried it wiht my 1.1.1 and i got an error message saying "this cannot be played on the iPhone" after a sync attempt.....o well ill be upgrading to 1.1.2 after exams....very good though, this is exactly how i wanted to create my ringtones....

Yep, you're right... You do you have to be on 1.1.2 for this to work!

i think apple has fixed their error and it can't be done now

Hey guys,
I followed this guide, and everything looks like it works, but the ringtones are silent. They play fine in iTunes, and appear in the 'custom' section of the ringtones page on the phone, but there is no sound! It won't preview when selecting it, nor will it play when I get a call, it will only vibrate. Anyone know why?
