ibrickr - no RESTORE button?!

Please somebody just tell me quickly, why when I initially plug in my phone and start up itunes (as the directions say via ibrickr) -- NOWHERE is there a "restore button" option (to get the latest firmware. The only thing I have access to is signing up w/At&t -- which I am not going to do.

How do i get the latest FW for the iphone via Itunes when my phone is not activated????!

I thought ibrickr COULD be used to activate your phone?

Yes you can.

You just need to upload the patched lockdown using ibrickr and restart the phone.

i don't think im being clear. i can't get past the stupid at&t account signup. i found a way to upgrade the firmware via the help drop down, but ibrickr isn't recognizing the latest fw. and there is no restore button anyways via itunes.
so im stuck w/ibrickr asking me to upgrade fw and itunes asking me to join at&t.

this sucks.

You can force iTunes to restore your iPhone. Press and hold the Home button and the button on the top for 25 seconds.

After the iPhone is restored, iTunes will update the last FW available for the iPhone.

did that. still the same problem.
can anybody direct me to a diff sw for activation? (win xp btw)

i just want the simplest GUI and I THOUGHT this would be it. i was wrong. I don't want to install .NET or anything...
