Was curious, where is the modem firmware flash located?
Is it on the comm board, or the logic board?

I have a pre 1.1.1 phone that won't restore.

Seeing lots of (oops) 1.1.1 phones selling now.
People who accidentally upgraded them, etc.

Thinking maybe it's possible to downgrade a 1.1.1 phone to 1.0.2, then use a 1.0.2 comm board?

i dont think it will work, when u downgrade the modem version remains as the one at 1.1.1 even though your firmware is 1.0.2

Yes, I know that the modem firmware isn't flashed.
If the baseband firmware is located on the comm board though, wouldn't swapping a 1.02 comm board allow it to work?

That's why I was asking about the hardware location of the modem firmware.

Anybody know if the chip is on the logic board, or the comm board?

Would be nice if that worked. Anyone knows?

commboards are expensive and I don't think many people really want to replace them . It would be easier to get a turbo sim it still works with 1.1.1 firmware and modem firmware

Not really....I bought a broken iPhone for $50 (dropped).
I can't get it to restore, but can communicate with it using iphoninterface, jailbreak, itunes, etc.

If the comm board is still good, and I can buy a "bricked" 1.1.1 phone for cheap, I was just wondering if the swap would allow a downgraded phone to function again.

Can anyone confirm the hardware location of the modem flash, comm board or logic board?
