come on, most of us have unlocked 1.1.1 phones and would like to upgrade to 1.0.2(if not for anything else, then just to make safari work a bit faster like ppl claim...)

so what do we do? install oktoprep, then upgrade, but which jailbreak do we use afterwards>

Let's focus on gathering experiences upgrading to 1.1.2.

I will wait until Dev team confirm a safe upgrade method otherwise you may loose your phone. Some people are after bricking hacked phones.

i had the same fears about upgrading to 1.1.1 but im so glad i did now
ibrick works with 1.1.1 now so i really have no reasons to regret upgrading

as far as 1.1.2 i want that one too, but since my phone is unlocked, im scared to do it until we get the green light on these forums

after reading that there was a speed/performance improvement in this new 1.1.2 fw i was curious as this alone would make it worthwhile.

I have jailbroken and unlocked several iphones now and i have to say the apptapp method via safari is hands down easy, simply going to jailbreakme.com has to be the easiest way to jailbreak the fone and works within minutes.
next step i do is install the anysim1.1 from rep.ifrenchiphone.com and unlock.

several friends have come to me over the past few weeks as i've always been the hacker type they knew if anyone could do it, it would be me.

so, sitting in front of me are several iphones today which I've jailbroken and unlocked. Personally, I started at 1.1.1 and never done anything below that fw - so my experience in hacking is only 1.1.1

however, i do have access to an ATT account on 1.1.1 which I upgraded to 1.1.2

and so sitting side by side is a 1.1.1 fully restored, a 1.1.1 jailbroken and unlocked and finally a 1.1.1 updated to 1.1.2

i'll be honest i dont see any significant speed increase or anything obvious when it comes to using safari. i can not surf any faster on 1.1.2 than 1.1.1, side by side the web pages pull up at same speed.

moving between menus, opening apps, closing them, same speed. also i note same battery drain the 1.1.2 does not live longer from what i can tell.

as for custom ringtones, personally i could never work the itunes renaming thing to work, i've tried many times but no luck, so i do the Mecca method which has worked flawlessly. as for sendsong..it sometimes works but i found it frustrating because it would loose the ringtones i sent to "ringtones", so for a day they'll work and then for reason i dont know yet, i assume some sync thing, they vanish even though after syncing all day they'll work then decide to vanish at which point i have to set them up again. I still thik the mecca method works best, reliable.

i have not tried to take a 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 and then jailbreak it and unlock it yet...i'm not sure i fully understand the whole process....i think it requires okprep, then updating it to 1.1.2 then downdating it to 1.1.1, doing something and thats as far as i remember.

once i see too many steps i get overwhelmed which is why i've fallen in love with apptapp for the 1.1.1 and anysim 1.1.

i just want to say, its never been a better time to upgrade to 1.1.1 from 1.02 then right now, because the tiff exploit makes it silly easy. hands down kudos to the hackers that put it all together for us simple folk.

and yes, i did donate. i felt good about it too.

what i'm saying in a nutshell, take it with a grain of salt what you read in these forums because sometimes ppl can be eggheads and make outlandish statements, although i admit its hard to back it up with proof (ok maybe a youtube would prove it , lol), i'm just curious to see if other ppl can come forward with the claim their iphone surfs faster on 1.1.2
for it to surf faster i would think thats bandwidth related. i'm using edge and wifi to compare. while wifi was disabled, same speed on all 3 fones. then while on edge only, same speed also and i have 5 bars signal strength. so i just dunno what to believe when some claim the things said.

You guys must be kidding, it takes less than 40 mins to upgrade and it is hassle free really. All you need is the virginizer from the elite team and iNdependence (which now does automatic installation of anySIM 1.1.1).
