Thumbs up HOWTO: Easily fix SMS problem (add support for alfanumeric senders)

First off, i didn't "invent" this solution, i only made it easy to apply. I go the idea from "saraf_suman" in this thread.

As most of you know, the SMS problem have been fixed in 1.1.2, so the solutions is to just use the phone part from 1.1.2 on 1.1.1 (note: Only 1.1.1 is supported currently).

    How to fix it:

    1. Open installer, and tap Sources, Edit and Add.
    2. Type in http://i.unlock.no/ and Ok then Done.
    3. Now tap on Install at the bottom and scroll down to the Unlocking Tools category
    4. Install SMS Fix
    5. When done installing, reboot your phone and it should work

    Read more here: http://iphone.unlock.no/#SMS-problem

Edit: There's also another neat fix in this version of the phone application - carrier name is now detected/displayed correctly. Not sure if it's read from SIM-card, or wirelessly, but previosuly it showed "N NetCom" as carrier, and that was too long to fit (causing scrolling etc). In the new version it shows up as only "NetCom" and that fits fine! (not sure why it wasn't working when i took the screenshot though)

do you put the files directly in the frameworks dir or you do the symlinking too? Just wondering.

I did the saraf_suman trick myself and it is working fine (symlinks didn't work for me though). Good that it is now available for the masses.

I have mentioned a problem with SMS fix. I am running 1.1.1

The problem is that after I uninstalled it and restarted Iphone it just shows no service. So then I installed it again, restarted and it showed service again.
Tried seveal times, always the same.
I think it just does not fully restore replaced files after uninstall.
So I hope you will fix it and release some app to solve it.

You should probably note that this is (for now) only for 1.1.1. Earlier firmwares are unstable after this patch and might turn your phone in semi-brick state.

I just backup the entire CoreTelephony.framework and replace it with the new one. Works fine - uninstall works fine also (reverts to original).

Yes, i've blocked 1.0.2 users from installing now, cause someone said the phone got stuck on boot screen.

Alex8228: Calm down - no need to PM me + post twice here.
I don't have your problem. I tested serveral times before uploading the package that both install and unininstall worked fine - uninstall makes it 100% like it was before. Only possible difference is that the phone application itself changes other files, but i doubt it does (and if it does, i doubt it would cause the problem you experience). Do you have 1.1.1?
Just check yourself: /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/CarrierMap.plist <--- if you have that file after you uninstall you have original files.

Ok,sorry, just wanted you to know that there is some kind of issue.
Does anybody have the same problem?
Phone just searching for sim , it doesnt ask PIN, just searching the it shows empty signal and no carier name. Also when I uninstall it and do not do restart
    operator name freezes.
So will leave this app on my phone, because that way it works as always.
