Default How will free Wifi hotspots work with O2

When the iPhone is available on O2 with free access to The Cloud does anyone know how it will work. I currently use my iPhone with BT Openzone, which is partnered with the likes of The Cloud, but what pains me is having to type my username and password every time I use it, particularly when the iPhone lacks cut and paste. Is there a possibility that an iPhone (on an O2 iPhone contract) will automatically be authorized for these hotspots ?

    It's by your MAC address

Check out the cloud's 3.99 per month service for iPod touch. It won't let you enter any other MAC range so if UK based phones have different ranges you are outta luck

So, just to clarify - does that mean it does not ask for username/password i.e. nothing to do to use it. If so, that will be enough to swing it for me to move from my unlocked Orange iPhone to an O2 contract.
