Alternatively use send song from installer.app and send any music file to your ringtones. It also allows you to email music from within the program too.

Just tried this worked a treat for me thanks!

For those on Mac I used 'Amadeus II' to make the ringtone Ive used it for years to make ringtones its a great audio editor and supports practically every popular format allowed me to save right to m4a.

Go into your 'iTunes Music' folder they are stored in a folder called 'Ringtones'

If you delete the m4r files from the "Ringtones" folder - they still show up in the iPhone > Ringtones tab though - any ideas?

Yes exactly my point. It won't disappear even if you delete it from the folder, it'll still show in the Ringtones tab. Any idea how to get rid of this?

    Hello,
Thanks for the tip. I couldn't make it work the first time because I chose "Add to Library" in iTunes.
What I should have done is select "Import". But it was a bit tedious adding a ringtone one by one.
What I discovered is that you can just drag your entire ringtone files into iTunes and it will add it to your Ringtone list.

The same here. Maybe it depends on the which version of iTunes (Windows/OS X) you are running. I use iTunes 7.4 OSX PPC, and I also do not have the Ringtones tab yet.
