I heard rumors that you can just get the tZones plan that's $5 and get full internet access anyways.... Does anyone know anything about that?

If you are using super/turbosim, remove your simcard, then insert it again: go to> settings > general > Network. Now the EDGE settings can be found. Behind APN set: "internet", leave username and password empty... Thats it.

I thought T-Mobile didn't have EDGE support, only GPRS...

People were doing this same thing with PPC's on XDA Devs but turns out its super super slow. It limits your speed.

This is Germany we are talking about, not America.

For T-mobile internet service, you have three options:

    1. Slow (think old modem 28.8k)
    Plan: T-MobileWeb
    Price: $5.99/month
    EMail: Yes (slow)
Web: No (need proxy to 8080)
    YouTube: No
    APN: wap.voicestream.com

    2. Medium (36kbs - 180kbs)
    Plan: Blackberry Unlimited Add On
    Price: $19.99/month
    EMail: Yes
    Web: Yes
    YouTube: Yes
    APN: wap.voicestream.com

note: set your phone to a blackberry, by clicking the phone picture when
logged into my.t-mobile.com to be able to add the service

    3. Fast (100kbs - 270kbs)
Plan: T-mobile Total Internet Add On
    Price: $29.99/month
    EMail: Yes
    Web: Yes
    YouTube: Yes
    APN: internet2.voicestream.com

note: set your phone to a smartphone, by clicking the phone picture when
logged into my.t-mobile.com to be able to add the service

If someone can configure tinyproxy to map port 80 to 8080 or enable proxy support in the preferences, I think the $5.99 plan is fine. I used it for years with my smartphones and the web speed was similar to the BlackBerry Internet speed. (it is the same proxy)
