    This is strange...
    I'm getting:
    "Unable to open "[Gmail]"
Mail was unable to open this mailbox on the server "imap.gmail.com".
The server error encountered was: Unknown Mailbox: [Gmail] (Failure)

what is this? And how do i correct it?

    thanks

yeah, but if you do this you lose custom label/folder support.

Speaking of label / folder support.

I already posted this here before I realized this thread existed, but does anyone know the answer to this question?

I have several filters set up in Gmail to automatically sort incoming emails into different labels/folders when received.

I have set up the iPhone to check for new emails every 15 minutes.

The problem is it only polls the inbox during its regular check. I could have new emails auto-sorted into my folders/labels by Gmail, and I wouldn't know until I tapp on that particular folder, at which point it refreshes and downloads new emails.

This is an issue for me as I have tons of folders, and I don't want to go tapping through them all every time I check for email.

Has anyone found a way to make the iPhone refresh ALL folders in IMAP every time it refreshes the inbox?

    Thank you,
    Matt

How to tell if your gmail account has imap
on a webbrowser goto the settings for your gmail account from the gmail web site. not the settings on your phone.
you will have tabs there for different types of settings
one of those tabs will be in one of two possible states. the old non imap yet tab read forwarding/pop and if your account has been switched over to the new imap options it will read forwarding/pop/imap

if your gmail account has not been setup yet, just wait. it will come.

this seems to be a upgrade that is happening not all at once, but a chunck of accounts at a time....more and more each day.

if your gmail account has not be upgraded yet, it wont work yet on your iphone.

also, the gmail site as great setup guide made just for the iphone including screen shots.
