How to return broken unlocked iphone?

Hello guys,
I bought an iphone back in march for a friend of mine and after a successfull unlock with iplus 2.0b back then , the phone started to have so many problems after a few weeks with continuos crashes, restoring and in the end it was almost impossible to use... so now Im back in the States and my frend asked me to try to have his iphone replaced, is there any way to do it? if so , what should I do? Vergizine it?

Restore the phone and take it back, no need to unlock or do anything.

You should upgrade to bootloder 4.6 ,erase baseband,restore to 1.1.4 firmware(if your on it) then restore to 2.0

So no need to refurbish it with ziphone?
I know the bootloader is problably not 4.6,so I probably have to upgrade it. it came with firmware 1.1.4 so what program should I use for do the whole operation? Also,
whats gonna happen if they ask me whats my AT&T number or something... cuz I dont have one.

You could use iLiberty or idemocracy ,first you must erase baseband on 3.9 bootloader ,then restore to the 1.1.4 firware,then use iLiberty to upgrade your bootloader to 4.6 ,then you could upgrade to the 2.0 firware but you don't have too

ok so after I do that I just bring it back to the store right? what if they ask me my phone number or anything like that?

I booked an appointmenet tomorrow with a tech specialist, so please let me know if theres anything else I should do or anything I should know before I get there ...
I tryed to refurbish it with iDemocracy 3 and then restore from Itunes, but then when the iphones starts again it says its already jailbroken and Activated - - so its not verginezed at all...

what I did. I signed a contract with ATT for 1 day just to get a new iphone. As I was waiting in the store I memorized my att number just in case they asked me for it. Sure enough they activated a new phone for me and asked me for my phone number. (Luckily I memorized it) Went back home called ATT and canceled. If you cancel in 3 days you will get all the fees refunded and will not have to pay the activation fee.
