Default How to Restore Visual Voicemail function??

first of all the details: i have an 8GB iphone activated as GoPhone on ATT in the US. it was working fine, but i needed to unlock it so i can use it abroad when traveling with a local SIM. So i unlocked it with the first GUI unlock, it took 20 mins and went fine, everything was still working. then i was having some issues ad needed to restore, so i did the bbupdate and then the itunes restore so i was back at a "virgin" state.. not truely virgin, cause the software IMEI no longer matched the one on the back of the phone. the phone then told me i needed a new SIM, iTunes wouldnt activate on the one that was currently in the phone, my orignal ATT one. so, first mistake, i went an got a new SIM from the ATT store.. this is what fucked my account... cause on prepaid ATT, with the iphone, if u get a new sim, you have to signup for a new account...stupid corperate policies, I spent hours on the phone with ATT to discover this .. n e way i wasnt havin that so i picked up a $20 phone, popped in the sim and it worked on my account.... so then i realized if i unlocked/activated the iphone it should work too.. and it does...

the iphone now has the patched lockdown file, and then anysim unlock, works fine with the ATT sim. the only problem is the voicemail button now dials the ATT voicemail instead of goine to visual voicemail, is there a way to change this back so the button goes to visual voicemail? any help would be appreciated.

If you have att/cingular and not the "iphone rate plan" i guess you would call it. Does visual v-mail work? or would you have to give att a call and have them enable it and pay for it?

Apparently, you could use Visual Voicemail with GoPhone if you had firmware 1.0. Since 1.0.1, it's blocked for non-contract users. I guess you upgraded to 1.0.2 so you're out of luck, sorry!

i actually have that same problem when i switch my t-mobile sim with my contract att sim, i'm not sure why it did that but when i hit the voicemail button, it dial my voicemial box then i hit end call, and i just leave it like that for a few second then a window pop up asking for my voicemail pin number, so i put the pin number in and voila, my visual voicemail is working again.

try to call your number using other phone and leave a message, wait couple of seconds and see if your iphone voicemail icon will have red numbers indicating you have voicemail... if you have setup pin numberfor your password..iphone will ask for it.

    got this from apple website

If iPhone calls your voicemail service when you tap Voicemail in Phone
If the voice instructions prompt you, enter your voicemail password. Otherwise, wait until you hear any voice instruction, then end the call. After a time, Visual Voicemail should become available again.

This may occur if you removed the SIM Card from iPhone and then put in a different SIM Card.
