No no solution to this problem. I think we have to wait for the update for the iPhone where they probably fixed the problem

    Exclamation

I already posted this on another thread, I have two iPhones one is able to receive SMS from the operator, one is not. I don't think this problem is a Firmware bug as everyone is assuming, I don't know how to fix it but this is what I have found so far:

    * Both iPhones were activated using the same method (iunlocker - first release)
    * Both were activated using independence (before the youtube fix)
    * Both have the manual you tube fix (through terminal on mac)
    * both are on the same operator (Movistar Mexico)
    * Both have same firmware 1.0.2 (1C28) and 03.14.08_G Modem Firmware... IMEI and SN are correctly displayed for each and the ICCID are different (because of Different SIM CARDS)
    * Both are payasyougo (prepaid) - No plan...

    However:

    * One is able to receive operator messages or SMS (missing calls, payments done, etc)
    * One is NOT able to receive operator messages

Well, another difference that I have found is:

    Under General Settings -> Phone:

    * The one that IS NOT able to receive operator messages (SMS) shows My Number is (899) XXX-XXXX - showing the actual number of the SIM card, this number is also shown on the iTunes.
    * The one that is able to receive the operator messages (SMS) DOES NOT show any number at all, nor in the iPhone, nor in the iTunes either.

I will keep digging for more differences...

BTW: how can I make a thread? I would like to start a new one because it seems that this problem has not been fixed becasue everyone assumes that it is a Firmware problem...

There is a solution. It's called firmware 1.1.1. If you can't wait for that, then search "solution to SMS problem." It involves flashing the BB. Takes time, but works.

This is the "named sender" SMS problem, right? (where SMS from 'numbers' will make it to iPhone, but not 'named sender')??

Can anyone give an example of a website that will let me send such a ('named sender') SMS to my iPhone? I'm looking for a general-use website (not carrier specific) so I can try sending the message to my (T-mobile) iPhone. (T-mobile's "tmomail.net" works fine)

(If I can reproduce the problem, maybe I can find a way to write an app that'll display such messages)

    Thanks,

    - Paulb

Sending to my phone worked fine, presumably because I chose T-mobile and T-mobile's "mail to sms" gateway uses an SMS format that's compatible with the iPhone.
