How is the iPhone locked to a carrier???
So, this is my situation... First, I am in the military and move around a lot. I was in the UK when I bought my iPhone 1.1.3 OOTB, I had an O2 contract and everything worked fine. Then I moved to a country without the iPhone I then unlocked it so I could use it there. I unlocked my iPhone with Pwnage Tool, not that that matters but it is part of the story. My next move took me to the US, where I live now and I wanted to use my iPhone with AT&T so I restored it to 1.1.4 and went down to the local AT&T store. I setup an account and they gave me a new sim and off I went back to my computer to activate in iTunes. And long store short it did not work I got the unsupported sim message, then I went back to the AT&T store where I went round and round with them. In the end they could do nothing for me and told me the only way it would work is to unlock it.
So, after all that if you are still with me and I hope you are is, how is the iPhone locked to a carrier?
The only sim that works for activation in my UK iPhone, with non hacked software/firmware, is a O2 one. I would like to us an AT&T sim in my iPhone with non hacked software/firmware.
Thanks
