MOD NOTE: THIS PROCEDURE IS ONLY FOR UN-DRMING APPS THAT YOU HAVE PURCHASED OR ARE AVAILABLE FOR FREE ON THE APP STORE. DISCUSSION OF ANY OTHER USE OF THIS PROCEDURE IS GROUNDS FOR A BAN. HACKINT0SH DOES NOT SUPPORT PIRACY.

This works nice on iPod AND iPhone with 2.x

What you will need:
-> Jailbroken device with Cydia.
-> Internet access via Wi-Fi.

If you don't have Cydia take your iPod/iPhone and Jailbreak it using Pwnage Tool - it's simple. And it will install Cydia

Now, just go trought this steps:

1. Take you device. Open Cydia. Wait the packages to be updated.

2. Go to Manage.


2. Select 'Sources'


3. Tap the 'Edit' after 'Add' buttons, on top left and right, respectively.

4. Type on the text field "http://cydia.ifoneguide.nl" [w/o quotes], press 'Add Source' button.


5. With the source added go to 'Search', and type 'MobileInst', the result should appear:


6. Tap it and press 'Install' button [on top right].


7. Confirm the installation pressing 'Confirm' button [on top right]:


8. When the installer completes, tap 'Return to Cydia' button. Reboot your device.


9. Now, turn to your computer, connect the device to USB/Firewire port.

10. Download the IPA from developer website or anywhere else.


If you dont use Safari on Mac, go to step 14.

12. Safari will decompress the file, and will cannot access the IPA file.


13. So, go to the Trash and move the file to any folder.


14. The file will be on the folder you moved [Safari] or the Download folder your other browser is configured. But it have the .zip extension:


15. So, rename it - just remove the .zip extension. Confirm the renaming.


16. The icon of the file should stay like the icons below:


17. Double click the file. It sould appear on iTunes.


18. Go to the device page, and click on Applications tab, and press 'Sync' button [on the right bottom]:


19. Your device should appear as synchronizing:


20. After synchronizing look the Home Screen! The application is installed!


After the patch made, just repeat the steps 10~20 to install other applications.
This is an good way to kept your bought Apps backed-up on a DVD for easy restore.

why would u like to have your mobileinstallation patched then?

I personally don't agree with cracked IPA's and have never used any but we have allowed this kind of information before.

Really as long as the mobileinstallation file patches your existing binary file then there is no piracy warez or sharing involved making this is just a simple How To.

But linking cracked IPA's or sharing apple binary files is illegal and I think that's where we would draw the line.

Honestly, I've installed some of the cracked ipa's just to try them. Since Apple won't supply any type of trial system, I see no problem with this. It's saved me money and headache by seeing whether the app is any good and if it works properly, especially in the beginning when you had people leaving feedback that hadn't bought the app. I've certainly bought more apps by being able to try them first than I would have otherwise and if I don't like/want it, I delete it. I'm sure lots of others have done the same

Can I just say that I am disappointed that this thread has not been removed. I have a few apps on the Appstore, some of them are free.
I have worked hard in creating them. Some people know how to get the apps for "free", but the majority do not. This just advertises it to the rest.

Buying patterns are becoming increasingly familiar to me.
Lots of sales for the first week and then a clear drop as soon as the "cracked" version appears on the net.

I do not rely primarily on the money made, but as soon as I see the cracked version, I just wonder if its really worth it. So much so that i'm not even bothered to update the existing apps anymore.

Please reconsider. I know its only a guide, but to me its like a knife in the back.

Ok a word from me now, I removed the link to the warez site, I think it's not ok to "steal" in first place, small developer deserve some support, even if its a simple click in the appstore for i.e. a free app (even if I think Appstore is epic fail).
BUT the guide itself I think should stay. I for myself dislike DRM very much, I don't like to have an application on my phone which is crippled and that I have to trust big A it's save. So I think everyone should have the right to install DRM free software they bought and unpacked if they can. Still this is a forum dedicated to apple hacking and I think unpacking and installing your property DRMfail free is just on topic.
