Thumbs up ***How to get Apple to exchange Bricked Iphone***

Long story short....I used a charger over the holidays @ my moms to charge my Iphone!!!! At first glance it looked just like my regular charger (w/o the base) Came back in room after 15 min & Iphone was so hot you could fry an egg on it!!!

Charger ended up being for her Ipod i think after looking @ the charger closer it has a slightly larger plug in adapter & uses a firewire cable to connect to it rather than the usb cable!!!! Anyway the only way I can get any sort of pulse from the phone now is if I plug it back into the charger that fried it, it goes to the empty red battery charging screen. If I then take it directly off that charger that screwed it up then put it on the right charger i stays on the red battery screen and I am able to put it in restore mode but the farthest it has let me get in the restore process is where it verifies the restore on the iphone then I get a unknown error (6) then nothing!!! Im on 1.1.1 tried restoring to 1.0.2 as i mentioned...Originally used unlock.pxl then virginised & used ipsf software!!!

So now the question is, Whats my best bet for an exchange?? Since I probably only got 1 shot @ it....Purchased from AT&T store & have the reciept but I figured they would probably send me to Apple store!!! My wife is pretty hot (but no salesman) so I thought about having her put on a low cut top & send her to the Apple stor to play dumb & hope for an exchange (tacky i know but I paid almost $600 for this damn phone) IS APPLE GONNA HAVE TOOLS TO DETERMINE IF ITS BEEN UNLOCKED SINCE IM UNABLE TO RESTORE OR BOOT THE IPHONE?????????Or do you think the restore worked even though it wasnt able to verify it had been completed?????

REP up for any suggestions on how to solve this fubar situation!!!!!

Help, Help, Help....... Have been so carefull till this!!! W/O bad luck I would have none @ all!!!

You tried to restore to 1.0.2 ? I'd suggest try to restore to 1.1.2, because if you downgrade to 1.0.2, ur baseband remains the same, the phone remains unlocked, if you update it, its locked again...
Then, I think you should really fry the phone. Microwave/connect to an old JBL speaker/let your phone fry with that charger you said... Fry it till you cant boot, restore or anything.

PS: I use a charger that came with mini iPod, it has a firewire plug, but I use it everyday, have left it for a whole night charging and havnt got any problem...

Good idea I will try & restore to 1.1.2 and i will leave it on the other charger that fried it initially for some time just to make sure !!!!Should I try to get it handled thru Apple care or go to the Apple store????

I had a situation almost exactly the same happen to my wife's iphone, except we had used an ipod car charger, which fried it. eventually i couldn't get ANYTHING out of the phone. no response whatsoever.

I made a Genius appointment at the apple store, and told them i couldn't get my iphone to work. Worried about not having an at&t account, i told them that i had bought it a month earlier (it is a 4gig model) to jump on the price drop, but had waited to activate it because my current contract hadn't expired.

I told them that the screen went crazy and eventually wouldn't turn on, and it wouldn't restore. That was all true. The only fib was the whole waiting to activate part.

The genius tried to turn it on, failed to do so, clicked a couple buttons and handed me a brand new 4 gig to replace it. HUGE relief for me.

So, if you happen to have an at&t account, don't worry about it being hacked, because if you can't get it to turn on at all, odds are, the genius won't be able to either. they'll either send it out for repair (which will mean totally overhauling it: they still won't be able to turn it on and see that it's hacked) or give you a new one.

if you don't have an at&t account, good luck getting your story to fly. i didn't get any skepticism from the genius, but your mileage may vary.

    hope that helps.

Do you have any recommendation for my case?

as I mentaioned in another thread that my iphone has problem with camera, it doesn't work when I open it application and keep restart.

So what would me to tell Apple guy in this case?

I'm not at&t customer even prepaid or plan.

I have plan to tell them that I was activated phone with some at&t simcard, and founded that camera doesn't work? and try to restore, and delete contents same as apple support website reckon, but it doesn't work.
Is that possible to repair or change the new one.
