Push will not work on hactivated iPhones unless you inject unique push notifcation certificates. As the tutorial and thread have answered, only legitimate activation in iTunes will give you unique certificates for push notifications to work. Then you can extract those certs from the activated iPhone or iPod touch and inject them in a hactivated phone.

my push certs are currently corrupt from the pushfix from cydia (and unfortunately also corrupt in my backup), but i have an att sim and can activate and get new certs. when i wipe and activate, can i copy the good keychain file out, restore, and then just copy the good keychain file back in? or do i have to use the inject method described on the first page of this thread?

Best to use the nimble and inject method. Keychain can contain a lot more than just these certificates.

    Hi
Reading the tones of information in this forum and trying to learn!
I have a particular and peculiar situation: my iphone is jb with a custom 3.1.2 firm, never unlocked (don't need to use a different carrier) and legit activated but I have never had working push in my purchased push apps from appstore. Don't know why because I'm supposed to be free of this issue...I'm legit activated! but always get the "connect to itunes" message.
I tried to fix it deleting the wildcard plist file and activating again with itunes. No problem with this: iphone is activated but the damn message comes back again and again...
Should I try to delete the whole "lockdown" folder to get new and unique certs?
Will I get everything ok doing this?
    Thanks.

I had a similar problem at one point. You are not following the instructions properly to fix this. You need to either remove the keychain file or use some commands to just remove the push certificate from the keychain.

Ok, thank you for giving some light!
Could you please explain a bit the process to do so? I'm not an SSH master...It would be great.

    Thanks

You need to get Dev Team's PushFix here. You need it for generating & injecting the certs.
(Don't get mix up with the PushFix available in Cydia that people are using (cydia.iphoneil.net) after jailbreaking with blackra1n RC3)

To generate a cert, one must:

    1) Start with a clean iPhone, after a RESTORE with a Pwned (Custom) IPSW *WITHOUT HACKTIVATION*

    2) iTunes activate for Apple to sign the new set of certificates

Where can i download this Custom IPSW and how can i activate my phone if i don't have a valid Carrirer.

If you own a mac, you make a custom ipsw with pwnagetool, some already pre-made custom ipsw exist on the internet but we can't link to them due to the rules of this forum. Use google.

You need to have a SIM card from the original carrier that the phone was locked to.. to activate it legitimately.

Okay, here's a question- can I jailbreak my iPod touch and use its certificates on an iPhone? This is after using nimble on it. Are the two compatible? Or is it a "iPhone must use iPhone certs, iPod must use iPod certs" type of thing?
