Default [How To] Check File integrity with SHA-1 Sum [Windows]

For this guide I'm using a (2G) iPhone1,1_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw firmware ipsw on a windows XP machine but this should work great for checking the download integrity of programs like pwnagetool/Quickpwn as well

    1. Download 'sha1sum.exe' program from HERE

    2. Put the sha1sum.exe program in a New Folder with your 2.2 IPSW firmware image.

    3. Click the Start button from your desktop, then click on Run

    4. On the Run box type in cmd click ok and this will open a Windows command prompt.

    5. After the command prompt appears open the New Folder you created and drag and drop the sha1sum.exe file to your command prompt window.

    6. Then drag and drop the iPhone1,1_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw firmware images to the command prompt as well.

Note: Make sure that after you drag the file across you put a space between the sha1sum program and the IPSW firmware image as shown above

    7. Then press the Enter key to execute the sha1sum.exe program and wait for the result.

    8. Now all you need to do is compare this SHA-1 value and the official SHA-1 value to see if it matches correctly.

All credit for the program goes to the creator whomever he/she is

Good post but itunes checks the firmware for you if you try to use it.
But useful for other stuff, although I have used pc's for years and never needed it.
    Good Luck
