Discuss How to change the Edge settings in 1.1.2 at the General - Hackint0sh.org; Your not alone I'm in the UK on vodafone and I can't the edge settings ...
Your not alone I'm in the UK on vodafone and I can't the edge settings working properly as well, Youtube's my problem it only works with wifi... GPRS works so Weather apps safari etc work fine its just that dam Youtube lol.
Looks like a problem for us all. I would not be surprised to see if a few T-Mobile UK people out there are suffering too.
Will have another look at the problem and play around with a few of the configs over the weekend.
Maybe Apple put in a deliberate bug to ensure that hacked iphones using competing networks would be restricted to GPRS?
Anyone out there manage to get 1.1.2 working on GPRS on a UK mobile network other than O2? If so, please send us a copy of your plists or other configurational information.
One thing thats strange is I had it working a guy posted up here saying "then you running 1.1.2 you don't need the APN password or user name just (internet) works for vodafone". It worked great but I installed the customize App lost a load of springboard icons including customize so I was f**ked and ended up doing re install.
Now just using (internet) doesn't work as well however it mite be worth some people trying it on Orange etc you never no it mite work 4u
Just to reconfirm that in the case of Orange (and possibly Vodaphone), there is no username and password. All you need to use is the APN which is 'orangeinternet' (remember not to use the quotes!).

I'm on T-Mobile here in the uk and since the upgrade to 1.1.2 i cannot acess edge, i have the little blue square with no E in it. I have manually inputted the edge settings under settings/general/network but it makes no difference. think i'll downgrade back to 1.1.1

Anyone else had a go at making up the EDGE carrierlist.plist files to see if they can get something to work?
Looking through the following thread:
specifically this thread:
and then I later read this post:
I realised as most UK MCC-MNCs are 5 digits as opposed to 6, this is quite likely the cause.
I will have a play on my phone later and report with the result as well as a working file which those of you on Orange can then use. Might be good if those of you on T-Mobile and Vodaphone also try this.
edit: Just re-read the posts and realised that only 4 digits are a problem and need to be padded with a zero so unfortunately looks like I have already gone down this path.

Guys if you see that you have lost the edge settings menu under 1.1.2 here is how you get them back:
Edit the O2_UK.plist file and add this entry. (in Red)
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
You might want to back up the original one and restart the iphone.
You will see that you have now the APN setting menu.
I've got the EDGE problem as well. upgraded from unlocked 1.1.1 to 1.1.2. I'm on Voda UK. On 1.1.1 I was getting Edge connectioin using APN: internet. Now, on 1.1.2 all I get is the blue square and no edge connection UTube etc.
Anyone got a solution to this yet???
Edit: From what I now understand, Voda UK doesn't have an EDGE service. 1.1.1 iPhones picked up the VODA GPRS signal and presumed it was EDGE...so the E showed and the phone allowed utube to work.
But with 1.1.2, the phone can now tell the difference between GPRS and EDGE signals so "knows" there's no EDGE, doesn't allow utube to work and pops up the "Your Need EDGE or WiFi" warning.
If this is true, could a 1.1.2 phone be fooled somehow into thinking GPRS is EDGE....like in 1.1.1 nd presumably earler versions.
