How to change the Edge settings in 1.1.2

What are the steps for those who are not in O2.

ie. Fido in Canada

the APN is internet.fido.ca

these instructions seem to me a logical way of getting the settings to work but according to some they dont work and others they do so its hard to say. personally i am waitig for a offical relase of unlocking but if this stage it proven to work then i am gonna do it this way as i need gprs on the phone

I have a UK 1.1.2 iphone and jailbroke it to work with my O2 sim.

I thought Edge was working anyway, i have the icon in the top left of my screen which made me think its working?!

You say in an earlier post that it wont be working properly? Why is this?

is your sim a pay as you go or contract? pay as you go use differant settings to contracts so these need to be changed i have not used this guide yet so i want to find out if it works with a UK iphone using an O2 Pay as you go sim

I have followed the instructions, and now when I press the voicemail icon it just dials the voicemail direct and doesn't call up the screen

is this just due to not having edge at my current location?

Not been able to get EDGE working on Orange after upgrade to 1.1.2 despite numerous attempts.

I'm on Orange in the UK and I've never got an E appear either, just GPRS.

Would also like a solution if I do have Edge coverage in my area and this is a 1.1.2 problem.

Only solution I have found is to downgrade to 1.1.1, although then you loose the power savings and stability that 1.1.2 otherwise provides.

I don't want to downgrade, because 1.1.2 fixed voicemail alerts on Orange, text alterts as well as the things you mention.

I hope someone finds a solution, as Orange probably has more Edge coverage than O2. My friend who has an official UK one on O2 has no Edge.
