Default How can you make the iPhone more sensitive to Wi-Fi signals?

I have a jailbroken 1.1.2 OTB and my friend has 1.0.2 with legit AT&T account and in the same place his phone shows full strength of Wi-Fi reception and mine only shows two bars.
Also, at home, i have full strength Wi_fi on my iMac and the phone can't even connect to it because it sees it as one bar signal.

Are there any tools that allow you to adjust the sensitivity of the wi-fi antenna or something like that?

    thanks for you suggestions

You'll laugh, but turning it upside down helps. I believe the wifi antenna is in the black bit at the bottom.

u can try to open the unit, and add your own type of antenna to make it powerful... like 10 years ago cellphones had antennas... it is not designed to get signal from your neighbours dude, it s designed to work in your access point distance, not your neighbours... if u say u cant use ur wireless at home or in office? it is another problem, but not iphone/itouch... it is the wireless router itself and its antennas are not powerful enough, and cant eliminate frequency conflinctions (from cordless phones, microwaves, metal cabinets around and all other devices operating at similar frequency...)

Does that mean the wi-fi sensitivity is not configurable by software? why then two iPhones next to each other - one has full reception, the other one - half?

    thanks

Same with my wife's phone and mine, I get a strong signal and hers will be one bar less. On my wireless router I can see the signal strength and hers shows very low, like 20~25 percent where mine will show around 50~65 percent in the same area.

I also noticed that firmware played a big difference as well. With version 1.1.1 I had to be standing within 10~15 feet from the router to get a signal to do updates, with version 1.1.2 the WIFI strength was better, approx 30 to 50 feet.

Hmm, you guys should really be getting better signals. I have no problem getting 2 out of 3 bars when I'm 100+ feet away from my router, and that's through several thick brick walls. It's probably because I paid out the ass for an Airport Extreme, though.
