Okay so i've bought a 3G iPhone from the U.S i've unlocked it but my O2 sim wont find signal on the phone, what do i have to do so i can use my UK sim in the phone and have it work with the latest possible update.

i also have a 2G iPhone i need to update to 2.1 to use my Apps.

obviously both phone were NOT bought through O2.

There is no software unlock for iPhone 3G yet. Sorry about that.

i have unlocked it so that i can use it as an ipod and use the applications, but not as a phone?

Hi there are three terms we use

1) Activate
2) jailbreak
3) Unlock

Simply put

Activate is when you bypass the slide to emergency screen

Jailbreak is when you can install third party apps from Cydia/Installer

Unlock is when you can use an unsupported network to make calls

So what you should say you have done if you have a 3G is Activate & Jailbreak
