Default Help :S Iphone stuck thinking headphone is in

My iphone thinks there is an headphone plugged in. I cant get any sound from the speaker when I forexample go in youtube or so. But when I have the headphone plugged in, all the sound functions work properly, I can get sound from the speaker everywhere.

In short it means my iphone only works properly when I have headphone plugged in. But I dont want to have a headphone plugged in everytime I want to watch a video with my iphone or other stuff

Any suggestions are very much appreciated

Try a restore. That always helps

Clean the headphone hole. I had the same problem from having the phone in my pocket all the time. A lot of dust and things eventually end up in there, making the phone think that you have a headphone connected.

Blowing is not enough. I had to use a toothpick to wiggle out the things that was stuck in the bottom of the hole.

get yourself and LED flash light, preferably small and shine it in the hole to see if you can see anything, if not you might use some airduster of a tiny fine wire brush

    Cool

That happens with my iPhone (2G) too...

After removing the headset, It still thinks Headphone's still plugged in.

I have to Plug in<->Plug out the headphone, 5-6 times, to make things right.

    I wonder what's the problem, n i don't think Dust's behind it !

    Smile This worked for me

So I tried putting in the freezer and tried the memory dump with "scan lite" from the app store and it still wasn't working. That isn't to say that these didn't help but on a hunch I put in (in the bottom) an external speaker I have for my iPod Touch. You know the little white rectangle looking external speaker for 5 bucks on ebay. I doesn't work right off the bat so you have to restart with it plugged in. I then went to my podcasts and listened to a few minutes then tried my baseball app and on and on. It works great that way if you really can't get it to work. A possible workaround maybe. But a few minutes later my plugging in and pulling out (just trying to confuse it) . Somehow its now working and I have to say it works even better and louder with the external one. Not good for on the go but great for sitting in the backyard. Loud. Hope this helps. Its also a pain if you have a fancy cover/shell but still a workaround if it doesn't work.

    Default plug and unplug

happened to me before quite a few times.
this is due to an old bug that iphone has wherein if you pull out the jacks while listening to music, the phone doesnt revert back to the standard speakers.
What worked for me was the following:

    1. re-connect your iphone headphones
    2. open up ipdod and play some music/ watch videos
    3. end or stop the music/video and then press home
    4. pull out headphones
    5. re-start iphone for good measure

    i hope that helps!!!
