Help: revirginized iPhone won't connect to iTunes or iNdependence
After a few weeks with a perfectly happy unlocked iPhone on firmware 1.0.2, I perhaps foolishly decided to try revirginizing, updating to 1.1.1, and unlocking again.
I was using the tutorials at hacktheiphone, which worked excellently up to the point when, having revirginized successfully, I started up iNdependence to prepare the phone for 1.1.1. It disconnected unexpectedly, and now the phone thinks it needs activation, but neither iTunes nor iNdependence will recognise it when it is plugged in via USB. I can still SSH to the phone; but don't know where to start really.
Any help would be appreciated; I've been poking around for a couple of hours now but haven't found any mention of this problem online.

Try setting the phone into restore mode and starting over with a clean install of the firmware. Also try another mac (or failing that, a windows box)....this worked wonders for me when I got stuck with a weird error as you are describing.
Remember to put your phone on wall power (AC) when trying to get it into restore mode. Try several times, it takes a few tries sometimes.
Thanks; this appears to be working. I'd tried getting into DFU mode several times but to no avail; I eventually had to quit iTunes and then double-click the ipsw (?) file for the firmware, which restarted iTunes with the phone finally recognised. But I appear to be back on track.
