!help! No Wifi Imei Bt + Bbupdate Error
Please help!!!
I had a 1.0.2 iPhone, ran anySIM 1.1.1 and at the end it said failed... since then, I have:
Symptoms:
1. no WIFI
2. no IMEI
3. no BlueTooth
4. no Modem Firware version (blank)
5. dialing keypad is SLOW (until I unload commcenter)
6. in About it still says 1.0.2
I have tried:
1. restore in iTunes v7.3.2 and v7.4.1 (with 1.0.2) but both error 1014 in the end and didn't fix the problem...
2. unload commcenter (even tried UIctl) and then bbupdater, but bbupdater says "unable to initialize... is the file in use?" everytime
3. tried ieraser... same problem it reports an error and doesn't continue
4. even tried the new iunlock with elite's .bin still error about file in use...
Is there another way???
I don't have a mac but can i run iBrickr ok (so I can install BSD, terminal and upload/download files)
PLEASE HELP ME!!!

How can I revirginize it?
I have tried bbupdater -v, and it returns "unable to initialize comm layer (is the file in use?)"
And this is AFTER i have unloaded (once with Mobile Terminal and once with UIctl)
iEraser returns similar errer about cannot access file
I have tried the iunlock with elite's .bin file still no success
any help please???
I am not sure if there is a bug in anySIM because my other iphone unlocked ok...

Hey there, not to worry dude. When I bought my iPhone, I thought I'm the most screwed up guy in the world, because absolutely nothing was working. None of the manuals worked the way described and I had the feeling I'm the only one in the world with such a messed up phone.
I was gonna write a step-by-step guide of what to do in this case, but I'm not very good with writing guides and my English is not that great either (maybe you will after you fix your phone)
Before I explain what needs to be done, you need to familiarize yourself with things like iNdependance, iBrickr, bbupdater, Terminal, etc. There's a lot of sources on the internet, you have to search and read.
What you need to do first is to make sure you have 1.0.2, if not - downgrade it using iTunes. iBrickr can help you on this, too.
1. You will need to install MobileTerminal from iBrickr.
2. All the files you need to downgrade are here http:// rapid share .com/files/65281362/downgrade-baseband_Folder.zip.html
3. Use iBrickr to upload the files bbupdater, ICE03.14.08_G.eep, ICE03.14.08_G.fls, ieraser, and secpack to /usr/bin/
4. Fire up Terminal on your phone, cd to /usr/bin and issue this command to stop the modem service:
launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
5. Type this in:
chmod +x bbupdater
chmod +x ieraser
6. Run ieraser
7. After that you can run bbupdater like this:
bbupdater -f *.fls -e *.eep
8. Run bbupdater -v
...and it should tell you that you have version 3.14
9. Restart your phone.
This will update your BB software and it should bring back bluetooth and wi-fi. Just in case go to Setting-General-Reset and hit Reset All Settings
(My bluetooth and wi-fi did NOT work until I did Reset All Settings, even though the BB upgrade went OK)
10. Next thing you do is upload the latest version of anySIM to your phone (using again iBrickr) and run it. Everything should work now after anySIM restarts your iPhone.
Now, probably YouTube won't work, so you need to follow the instructions from here:
http:// limitededitioniphone . com/youtube-not-working-on-your-iphone-steps-to-fix/
(REMOVE ALL THE SPACES ON THE WEB ADDRESSES)
It will take lots of patience since Terminal does not support DELETE function and whatever you type you can't go back, but hit return and do it again. I know Terminal is very slow, it will get fixed. Again, lots of patience!
As I said already, this is not a fool-proof guide to do everything needed step-by-step. You might need to read more in order to get this done. For example, if you don't know how to upload files to /usr/bin with iBrickr, read about it.
In any case, this is a working solution for bringing your phone back to life. I said at the beginning that I couldn't find info on this problem and what I meant was that all the guides reached a point where you need to ssh to your phone. But how could I ssh when everything was down - bluetooth, wi-fi, phone, EDGE. But I found use of all of them and figured it out.
I don't insist on this being the *BEST* solution and if anybody else has a better way to do all that, we're all be glad to hear it.
Good luck and let me know if you get stuck at any step.

bimmerme! thanks so much for the help!
I think I am getting closer but I had these errors while running thru your steps:
ieraser says "can't write" because the secpack file doesn't match my firmware version
bbupdated says "failed to initialize comm layer"
i have entered the launchctl unload command
any pointers please?

"failed to initialize comm layer" means that modem software was not stopped and you didn't successfully run the "launchctl unload" command. As far as I remember launchctl will not output anything, but you'll know if it ran OK if bbupdater gets through.

Hm, did you make sure you downgraded to 1.0.2? Downgrading to 1.0.2 is fairly easy task. What we are trying to do here is downgrade the baseband.
This secpack is the one I used, try it http:// rs25. rapid share. com/files/61914114/secpack40113.bin
After you download it, rename it to secpack (just plain secpack, no extension) and then upload it to the phone.
