Question [HELP] iPhone won't boot after updating lockdownd

    Hi there,

need some advice here on how to fix my iPhone booting problem. The story is as follow:

My 16Gb 1st gen iPhone cannot be recognised by any computer (PC or Mac), so I did some research on the internet and digged up some really old posts saying lockdownd is the problem (of course, for FW 1.1.X). So I back up the original lockdownd, download a modified one and uploaded to my iPhone. As expected, it didn't work and since then my iPhone don't boot. I have replace it with my original lockdownd file, and the iPhone still doesn't boot!

I need some advice on how to fix this problem, i.e. make my iPhone BOOT (for the start)!

Some more info about my iPhone:
    - 1st Gen 16Gb
    - Running FW2.1 (jailbroken & unlocked using QuickPwn 2.1)
    - WiFi still available; hence WinSCP can bu used to connect to iPhone.
    - The screen locked at the "White Apple" sign.

    Any advice is appreciated! Cheers.

    Thanks for the reply.

But I cannot get into DFU mode (locked at Apple Logo screen); even if I could, my iPhone (USB connection) fails to be recognised by any computer!

Does you iPhone now fail to be recognized?

Try this one: Connect iPhone and Mac/PC, shut down iTunes if open. Shut down the iPhone by holding start/slepp and home button until the screen goes black. Release both bottons then.
Hold start/stop for 10 seconds (count like 100, 200, 300,...) then release start/sleep but keep holding home. Keep holding home until iTunes starts up automatically and shows a screen telling you it has found an iPhone in DFU mode. Release home button, klick ok and then restore to apple firmware 2.1.

    Use Qickpwn then

    Hi volkspost,

I've tried that. No luck - computers cannot even detect the iPhone.

My iPhone failed to be recognized by any computers before getting hung up at the start screen. Headache!...

    One more thing :p
If ssh is installed there is a little change to reactivate it. I had the same problem in times of 1.1.4 with a buggy lockdownd file. If ssh is running you can connect to iphone, even if its looks locked to the apple logo. Replace the file with a original lockdownd over scp, but have to be fast, the iphone should reboot after some minutes or freezes completely.

    guys, thanks for the respond.

It's been confirmed that it's a hardware problem - iphone dock flex cable failure. Replacement cable has been purchased and am waiting for it for the fix work.

    Cheers,
    Halo_gg
