HELP, iphone turns off randomly..
Hey please help me i am having an unlocked iPhone 2g and the firmware is 2.2.1 which i upgraded recently from 1.1.4.
but the problem which i used to face that the phone gets switched off randomly is still taking place. Its totally random. i have restored my phone twice for this and even upgraded it to 2.2.1 from 1.1.4 but still it continues. It turns off randomly evn while i am using it or even when i m not using, YES it does anytime. Even while i am speaking on the phone or using some application.
If i connect it to charger or itunes it starts working fine.
i m new to this forum ...
i m worried..
Please help asap.

When updating to 2.2.1 and connecting to iTunes, the programm offers to "restore data from a backup". Did you choose this option or "setup as a new iPhone". If you restored from backup I'd recommend to DFU restore to 2.2.1 again and do the unlock-doodle again, then "setup as a new iPhone". restoring from a backup may bring back outdated prefs and stuff that interferes with the iPhones functions.
Just do it to rule out software problems.

So are you saying it only happens when the iPhone is NOT connected to the PC or AC adapter?
I just wanted to rule out some odd software behavior. This is not the case, so it is probably hardware related.

Seems to me that power 8=battery9 does not deliver enough power. I mean if this only happens when not connected to an external power source. Maybe a battery replacement would help - but this is a pain in the b...

I have this same problem. It just shuts off randomly. I get the screen turned black and the little circular thing (like it's shutting down) then it goes black.
I already replaced the battery and it worked fine for about 2 weeks, Now it's doing it again
I restored new phone.
I'm also having the "greyed out" camera button issue.

It's more than a pain the a**. It can't really be done (Good).
Even Apple doesn't replace batteries, they replace the entire device.
Once you open the iPhone, you can't really close it.

I found my problem out. The ground wire was loose. I soldered it in, and no problems. 1 week
