Default Help ! iphone 2g dead with red mark on battery when plug in

    Hi,

I've just bought an iphone 2g and it wouldn't power up and it only showed a red mark on the battery sign where I believed it should be green when plugged in.

Any body have any idea what's wrong ?

Thank you for your response !

I don't see any sign of charging since I plugged in for a couple hours but nothing happened and it always showed a red mark on the battery sign.

It look strange to me even the battery is dead, when I plugged in the usb cable, I should be able to turn it on, right ?

Not necesserely.Maybe the battery is damaged in a way that prevents completely its function.

I tried with 2 different computers and with 2 different usb cables, still nothing happened.

Something else must have been wrong, not the battery itself.

I had a similar situation with a friend's 2g iphone(older firmware, dont remember which one).Itunes couldnt detect it and it couldnt be charged via a computer. It turned out,i had to replace his lockdown file in usr/libexec/ with the one from my iphone and everything worked like a charm.
U obviously cant check it since you are out of battery
I m gonna ask another obvious one:u have tried charging it somewhere else besides a usb port huh?Still no chance?

I haven't tried charging from the wall charger and I'll try it see happen next.

Do you think the battery itself have a problem ? I think even the battery have a problem, I should be able to turn it on with the USB plugged in.

I finally get it to charge with a USB cable and I'm able to turn it on but the battery would last for a couple minutes and it gave me a black screen again.

I was able to turn it on when I plugged into the USB cable and it only showed the Emergency Screen. I was trying to unlock and it always give me errors and always stuck in recovery mode.

I believed the cause of not able to unlock was the Power button. When I plugged the usb cable and I was able to turn it on but when I tried turning it off, it wouldn't turn off.

The problem down to the battery since it'd not hold the charge and the power button.

I had this problem once. I left it charging overnight via wall charger, then next morning restored it to 2.2.1 firmware, wiping all data. Played with it for about 2 hours seemed all OK, then restored a PWN'd image to it to unlock..Havent had any problems since then
