I am based in the UK and have an o2 contract sim card.

I understand that there is no 3G/gprs in the iphone so that if you are out and about the only way to connect to the internet / features on the iphone ie. google maps, internet, utube etc.. is either to find a free WIFI hotspot or conect using EDGE

i understand edge is only covered in 30% of the UK. I live in bedfordshire and went into N London today so i though that if edge was going to work anywhere it would work in london.

Anyhow i could not connect to anything.. i even tried a free wifi hotspot which didnt really seem to work.
the settings in the iphone for edge are
APN: web.o2.co.uk
username: faster
password: web


Are these the right settings?? I had an E icon on the top of the iphone but just didnt get any conectivity.

Also depends on the O2 tariff - apparently some of them don't offer EDGE connectivity. I don't know which ones, before you ask!
