    Default [Help]dead strip on 2.0

    i have a winpwned iphone running 2.0 with all the fixins...i dropped it 3 days ago and now i have a dead strip across the upper middle of the screen...i was wondering if any could possible port this http://limitededitioniphone.com/ipho...e-sensitivity/ to 2.0 functionality so i can use all my phones features n such...thanks...

    (i have tried restores...and erasing all settings...DFU's...anything...even exchanged the plists...but that left me with not being able to touch the screen after i changed the sensativity and restarted)

    I had the same problem - but not through dropping it.

    I took it to an Apple store in Atlanta while on a trip there. I explained that I was from the UK but had bought the phone in LA.
    He just got out a new one and changed the chip over - I'd put back the original AT&T chip in it.
    As he plugged it in he said "Oh, we have to do the long activation"
    I just said "No, it's ok I can do that back at the hotel, there are a lot of people waiting for your help"
    He just handed me the phone and off I went.;

    Default Return it ASAP

    It is a well known issue among apple support team. They do not care too much for anything, they will simply swap it for you.
    My iPhone was on its 12th month. Dead strip appear on the bottom. My phone was unlocked on TMo, Jail broken and running 2.0 fw. When I called, they asked for a phone number, I gave my father's phone number. They simply verified address info and then asked me to reset the phone. I followed his instruction and then I was asked if I live near apple store. The trick is to say no. Next day, I had am empty over night box. I poped my sim out and sent. Two days later, a new iPhone arrived. End of story.
    They are aware of this issue. They want all of dead strip phones back. I heard they didn't even care if your warrenty expired. They don't want media getting hold of how big this problem is. I heard it is a lot. Mine was never dropped. It happened after I updated Cydia so I though it was software related, but it is not.
    Changing sensitivity, taking protective cover off, cleaning screen, raising pH lever, nothing will fix it for you. Good luck.

    Yeah, he had att.
    The repair side has nothing to do with activation side. They only have to verify att phone numbers. Matter of fact, when I tried to go through their web site, entering my serial number told them it was never activated, they didn't care. Any ATT phone number will do. But, I think, if they ask to verify the address, you should be able to tell them.
